A MIDI chord generator. Every note you play becomes a chord: Chord adds fixed intervals above it and sends the result on to an instrument. It makes no sound of its own.
Controls
- Mode picks the chord: Octave, Power fifth, Major triad, Minor triad, Suspended fourth or Dominant seventh.
- Spread moves the added notes up or down by up to two octaves, from a close voicing to a wide, open one. The note you play stays where it is.
- Added velocity sets how loud the added notes are compared with the one you play, so they can match it or sit behind it. The played note keeps its own velocity.
- Harmonics switches chord generation on and off. When it is off, notes pass through as single notes.
The keyboard picture shows which notes a middle C would produce with the current settings. It is a reference, not a live display of what you play.
Good to know
When you release a key, Chord releases every note that key produced, so held chords never leave notes hanging. Added notes that would fall outside the MIDI range are left out rather than wrapped into another octave.
Getting started
Place Chord before any instrument and play a single-note line. Start with Power fifth for a thick, guitar-like doubling, then try Minor triad with Spread at +1 for an open voicing.
