Preview terms 2026-10-30

1. What this is

Sound generation is an experiment. Models and results may be wrong, unavailable, changed, limited or withdrawn at any time, with no notice. It is provided as is and as available, with no warranty and no uptime commitment. Do not rely on it for production work or for any high-risk use. Output and data may be lost, so keep your own copy of anything you want to keep.

2. Withdrawn versions

When Maru or a model’s licensor withdraws, deprecates or revokes a model or a version of it, you must stop using it and delete any local copies of its weights. Do not keep using an unsupported or deprecated version, and do not bypass limits or gates, including this one.

3. Proper use

You must comply with the law. You must not use sound generation to:

  • generate anything unlawful;
  • generate sexual content involving minors;
  • generate harassing, hateful or deceptive content;
  • impersonate a real person’s voice or likeness;
  • infringe anyone’s rights; or
  • misrepresent AI output as human-made where that deceives people.

The following policies are part of these terms and bind you, as they may be updated by their publishers: the Stability AI Acceptable Use Policy and the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy. Gemma and its model derivatives are subject to the use restrictions in section 3.2 of the Gemma Terms of Use.

You must not use the weights or their outputs to create or improve a foundational generative AI model. You must not extract, redistribute or resell weights except as their licences allow. Section 12 of the Terms and the Code of Conduct also apply.

4. Model licences

The model weights are not ours to license. They are governed by the Stability AI Community License and the Gemma Terms of Use, with their model notices. By using them you also agree to those terms. Powered by Stability AI.

If you use the weights or their output commercially, you are responsible for meeting those licences’ conditions. Stability AI’s licence requires registration for commercial use, and it ends once you and your affiliates pass US$1,000,000 in annual revenue unless Stability AI grants you another licence. We do not check any of this for you.

5. Your outputs

We do not warrant that an output is yours to own, unique or cleared for any use. An output might resemble an existing recording or one made for someone else. You are responsible for what you publish, and for clearing any rights it needs first. Section 8 of the Terms covers AI output generally.

6. Sharing and moderation

By default, a sound you generate is saved to your account and shared publicly with your name. Cloud renders are published this way, and you can change a saved sound’s visibility in your library. Sounds made on your computer follow its Save to my account and Share with the community switches. With saving off, nothing leaves your computer.

We may review, hold, hide or remove anything, and suspend your access, without any obligation to do so and as described in sections 13 and 14 of the Terms. To report a sound, use its Report control or write to hello@maru.audio.

7. Confidentiality and leaks

Do not enter confidential or personal information, or secrets belonging to you or anyone else, in prompts. Preview systems may have bugs or security incidents. Your prompts, audio and metadata may be exposed, including through sharing or a breach. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that preview content stays confidential. The Privacy Policy still describes how we handle personal information.

If we give you access to a model that is not public, do not publish it or anything that reveals it. If you find a vulnerability, report it to hello@maru.audio and do not exploit it.

8. Liability and indemnity

To the fullest extent the law permits, the exclusions and limits in sections 22 and 23 of the Terms apply to sound generation, to its outputs and to any loss or exposure of preview content. Under section 24 of the Terms you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of sound generation, from your breach of these terms and from outputs you choose to use, publish or distribute.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or consumer rights that cannot be waived by contract.

9. Termination

We may end the preview, or your access to it, at any time. You may stop at any time. Either way, sections 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8 continue to apply to what you already made or downloaded.
