Sixteen one-shots, one coherent generated mood.
Moodbox treats a kit as a coherent palette, not sixteen unrelated search results. Every bank is generated and chopped against the same sixteen functional roles, so changing the mood preserves the playable organization: kicks remain kicks, hats remain a choke pair, and accents keep their job while the material, place or genre changes.
Moodbox is content, not a second instrument: this page plays the regular Maru Sampler reader, the same compiled engine as /modules/sampler, with a Moodbank kit mounted and a Moodbox skin over the reader's own face. Bank preparation and evaluation stay in the private Lab.
The reader's bank and preset controls are the one preset surface. The page's compressed #p URL carries the kit, the voice ceiling and every non-default pad treatment. A link made with the original Moodbox opens on /modules/moodbox-legacy-v1, the frozen Web Audio baseline, which the Stepmood rack still uses for now.
A MIDI, keyboard or pointer strike reaches the sampler reader, which maps the note to the kit's zones. Each pad's treatment is a sparse override stored in the preset and composed onto its zone when the kit is installed; the reader applies trim, reverse, pitch, low-pass, pan and a gain envelope per voice.
Per-pad layer/restart policy, per-pad polyphony, choke groups and the global voice ceiling arbitrate simultaneous one-shots. Touch or fixed velocity, variation and per-pad response are resolved before the strike, and cycle, random or shuffle round robin picks the take in the reader.
The state is the sampler's own preset: the kit reference plus sparse pad overrides in the sampler@1 extension, so the same link opens the same kit and treatment wherever the reader runs.
