A low-frequency oscillator for the rack: a slow, repeating wave that moves another module's setting for you. Point it at pitch for vibrato, at a filter for a sweep, or at amplitude for tremolo.
Controls
- Rate sets the speed, from 0.1 to 20 cycles per second. Below 1 Hz it is a slow drift; above about 8 Hz it stops sounding like movement and starts changing the timbre itself.
- Shape picks the wave: sine (the default, smooth and even), sawtooth, square or triangle.
- Depth sets how far the wave moves its destination.
- Target says what the LFO is meant to move: pitch, filter or amplitude.
The picture on the panel shows one ideal cycle of the chosen shape and depth. It is a diagram of the settings, not a live display of where the wave is.
Getting started
Add LFO to a rack and connect its output to the module you want to animate. Start with the default, a 4 Hz sine at half depth, then lower Rate for slow sweeps or raise it for a faster wobble.
The LFO runs freely: it has no tempo sync, transport or phase reset, so it does not restart on each note or lock to the beat.
