A two-oscillator virtual analog synth in the spirit of Synth1. Newsynth1 is a Maru port of OpenSynth1, an open-source tribute synthesizer inspired by Synth1 and the Nord Lead 2, and it keeps that instrument's familiar layout and its full set of numbered controls.
What it is
A classic subtractive synth: two oscillators with a sub-oscillator, a filter, amplifier envelope, two LFOs, an arpeggiator and a chain of effects (a selectable effect stage, chorus and delay, plus EQ and pan). It plays up to 32 voices, 16 by default, in Poly, Mono or Legato mode, with portamento for glides.
This is an early release. It is playable and has the complete control set and factory bank, but its sound is not yet a match for OpenSynth1 control for control. OpenSynth1 itself is a tribute rather than a clone, and its own envelopes and voice shaping intentionally differ from the original Synth1.
Controls
The face groups the controls into five pages: Sound, Motion, Effects, Space and Playing. Each section shows its main controls first, and More settings reveals the rest. On a wide screen, or from the navbar at any size, Full editor shows every section at once, closer to a classic one-screen synth panel. Master controls stay visible below the pages.
Tempo sets the speed of the arpeggiator, tempo-synced LFOs and the delay. When the host has a transport it follows the host's tempo; otherwise it is a knob on the Motion page, 40 to 240 BPM.
Getting started
Play it from a MIDI keyboard. Browse the 32 factory programs with the previous and next buttons: start with Init Saw for a blank patch, or try Super Saw Pad, Acid Bass, Pluck Lead, FM Bell, Arp Pad or Glide Mono to hear its range.
