Resonant Objects

Strike and shape a resonant object.

@maru shared this instrument so you can play it in your DAW, remix it or put it on your site.

What it does

A small playable scene: touch a resonant object to strike it and hear it ring. It is also a starting point for building your own game-style audio module, a compact, complete example you can copy and change.

How to play

Click or tap the object to strike it, or focus it and press Enter or Space. Where you touch matters: the distance from the centre sets the strike position.

  • Strike position: from the centre to the edge of the object.
  • Velocity: how hard it is struck.
  • Size: a smaller or larger object.
  • Damping: how quickly the ring dies away.
  • Mallet: Yarn, Felt, Wood or Metal.
  • Level: the output volume.

The sound comes from the same resonator as Maru's Gong module, in stereo, with a tail of up to 15 seconds.

Making it yours

The scene, controls and sound are all in this module, so a copy can change any of them. The effect stage after the resonator is a plain pass-through, ready to be replaced with your own processing. See the fork guide for how the pieces fit together.

What would you make with Resonant Objects?

Describe what you want to make. Build it with the Studio agent.

Goes well with.

Prototype

A struck gong voice with a late shimmer.
